THE PAMPERED CHEF, LTD. AND AMERICA'S SECOND HARVEST PARTNER IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER

*Partnership results in nearly $7,000 donation to Foodbank*

ST. LOUIS, MO -- December 11, 2001 -- Traditionally, we only think of helping the hungry during the winter holidays. However, 31 million Americans go to bed hungry every night.

As part of its ongoing effort to combat hunger in America, The Pampered Chef, Ltd. is pleased to announce that midway through its 11th annual ‘Round-Up from the Heart’ corporate-giving campaign, a $6,776.34 donation has been made to the St. Louis Area Foodbank – the local affiliate of America’s Second Harvest.

This donation reflects what is collected during Pampered Chef in-home Kitchen Shows and cooking demonstrations held throughout the greater St. Louis area. A second donation will be made upon the campaign’s completion in February 2002.

"The ‘Round-Up form the Heart’ campaign helps alleviate America’s ever-present hunger epidemic," said Julie Christopher, manager of corporate and consumer relations at The Pampered Chef. "Our partnership with America’s Second Harvest and its affiliates nationwide is helping to bring the goal of setting a place at the table for everyone closer to reality."

The Pampered Chef’s nationwide sales field of more than 64,000 Independent Kitchen Consultants are promoting the ‘Round-Up from the Heart’ campaign during

Kitchen Shows conducted between September 1, 2001 and February 28, 2002.

Customers contribute to the campaign by rounding their purchase totals to the nearest dollar or more. These funds are then distributed to the America’s Second Harvest affiliate in the region where the donations originate – making this a national program with local impact.

Customers can also purchase a special collector’s cookie mold. For each mold purchased, The Pampered Chef donates $1 to the national office of America’s Second Harvest. The company also contributes the administrative costs of the program, which includes salaries and supplies.

In addition, The Pampered Chef Home Office made a significant cash donation to America’s Second Harvest which as provided food, water and other supplies to rescue workers and families displaced by the disaster on September 11, 2001. The donation was made on behalf of The Pampered Chef’s Kitchen Consultants and Co-Workers.

This continued commitment to fight hunger in America is a team effort among The Pampered Chef’s customers, Independent Kitchen Consultants, corporate employees, America’s Second Harvest and its affiliates. Along with this year’s donation, the ‘Round-Up from the Heart’ campaign’s eleven-year total contribution is more than $5 million, distinguishing The Pampered Chef as America’s Second Harvest’s largest corporate promotional sponsor.
